I was impressed with the level of detail and precise instruction that the plans gave the sculpture, enabling it to be manufactured in China. Stefan Purcell is a perfectionist and was responsive and efficient when it came to any alterations and refinement to the drawings. This major sculpture has been assembled and disassembled four times with four different crews in Australia and China. The clarity of the engineering drawings not only contributed to fault free manufacturing but also made the task of assembling the sculpture possible to follow without confusion - even with the on the ground language challenges. The dome has survived super cell storms in Brisbane and was the only light to continue at South Bank when the blackouts occurred through the January floods in Brisbane. It survived unscathed through windstorms in Beijing and snow in Shanghai. Certainly the robustness of the construction has been well tested! I have no hesitation in recommending the talents held within Rapid Concept Designs.
